The North East Gujarati Association is
primarily made up of people who originate from the Gujarati although membership
is made up of a cross - section of communities residing in the Northern
Region.
The main purpose of the Association is to organise religious, cultural
and sociable events to celebrate the rich culture and traditions of the
Hindus in the North East of England. The Festivals that we celebrated in
the North East are Holi, Navratri, Diwali. There is an emphasis in encouraging
the involvement of children and young people in celebrating the
culture, for they are the leaders of tomorrow. In April, the Association
elects its executive Committee which runs for a term of two years. It
is particularly encouraging to note that over the past few years the Committee
has been mainly made up of young people who are taking a lead and this
years is no exception. |
